A Ladies’ Guide To Buying Drugs

Had a pretty good laugh at this article on Vice. What an interesting way to shove some fashion and product on the female youth of today.

The Beauty Of A Second

Saw this first round of submissions for The Beauty Of A Second film contest. The Beauty of a Second is a contest curated by Wim Wenders which asks users to demonstrate beauty in a second of film.

Pretty amazing stuff so far.

ISS View from Space

What a rad video to start the week with. Neil found this gem and suggested falling asleep to it. We will give it a try during our afternoon brain napping exercises.

T-SHIRTS!

This one is floating around the internet right now. Everyone loves a good T-Shirt and there is something to be said about t-shirts as a very fundamental but very effective piece of communication and art.

Shwood At It Again

I really like the videos Shwood makes showing their design process. There is something pretty awesome about a pair of wooden sunglasses and the way Shwood goes about making them. The video is a collaboration between Shwood and Pendelton on a limited pair of glasses with an awesome woven carrying case.

First Person Tetris

Found this over at notcot.org. Played about 30 seconds and got dizzy. I really like the TV setting for the site. It’s very inviting and says “have fun with this.” Just don’t eat too much beforehand.

Canada!

I recently spent some time exploring the Pacific Northwest and had the pleasure of visiting that big country to the North – Canada. Amidst the hiking, sailing, cycling and crabbing I snapped a few shots with my phone. A few happened to be awesome so I thought I would share.

Analog Sampling

I love vinyl because it’s one of the only remaining tangible forms of audio that is actually cool. This analog sampling project from Ishac Bertran makes great use of the format and is an awesome hand made project. It must have taken a lot of time and patience to match up some of these samples.

Adidas Interactive

I absolutely love this interactive piece done for the Adidas Adizero F50 soccer cleat. Lionel Messi is shown in dribbling through opposing defenders and the video slows down and pauses at each critical point in his movement. During each pause, a different feature of the shoe is highlighted along the timeline with extra info and the user is prompted to click and drag, initiating Messi’s next move. I’m absolutely floored with this. It would be awesome to see Adidas do this type of product featuring with more of their products and sports.

Logotypes

We came across a pretty cool collection of pages from Al Cooper’s World of Logotypes: Trademark Encyclopedia, Vol. 3 on Flickr. I really like that the images are sorted alphabetically. It makes referencing letters as shapes much easier this way. I pulled a few and the rest can be found at Flickr

Nike Mag

We are big fans of Back to the Future here at the Labs and we couldn’t be more excited about the Nike Mag limited release. 1500 pairs of the iconic shoe began auctioning last Thursday to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. You can check it out at http://nikemag.ebay.com/

Ferrofluid in Soap Bubbles

Found this little gem over at ThisisColossal.com. I first heard of ferrofluids a little over a year ago and knew about some practical mechanical applications for them. Seeing their motion through a medium like soap bubbles presents quite a stunning visual.
