About

We’re always thinking. It’s what we do. Whether we’re creating an advertising campaign that will break through the clutter or bringing our own products to market, we know we are ultimately in the idea business. We publish books. We brew our own beer. We’re designers, writers, strategists, professors and students. And we’re all brought together by one common belief: nothing is more compelling than a smart idea, executed well.

Work was founded in 1993 in Los Angeles, California as a first-of-its-kind ad agency for other ad agencies. Work quickly built a national reputation as a creative and strategic problem solver. In 1995, Work moved back to founder Cabell Harris’s hometown of Richmond, Virginia. Two years later, the agency was selected to be one of the six independent agencies that made up Ogilvy and Mather’s “Syndicate.” Today, Work continues to be a creative resource for large national agencies as well as its own growing list of clients. And, when it comes to branding, Work is one of the few agencies that practice what it preaches by extending its brand into different categories, publishing books and developing new products and bringing them to market. No wonder some refer to Work as the largest small agency in the world.

WORK offers unprecedented flexibility. At WORK, no job is too large or too small. Whether you’re looking for some quick help on a troublesome project or a full-service agency to build your brand, Work can handle it. We have some of the most talented people in the industry waiting and willing. When a client comes to us with a challenge, we go out and find the best resources possible to work with us in solving problems and exceeding our client’s goals. This gives us the flexibility and versatility to be all things to all clients. When you need us to be small, we’re small. When you need us to be big, we’re big. When you don’t need us, we’re not there at all.
